Dream into Action 2022: FAQ

FAQ

Can I register for Dream into Action Leadership Conference 2022 at the venue?

Unfortunately, no. This year, due to COVID protocols, registration is only accepted prior to February 4, 2022. No onsite registration will be available.

Will meals be provided during the Dream into Action Conference?

Yes, beginning with lunch on Thursday; and heavy appetizers will be served at that evening’s reception. On both Friday and Saturday, breakfast and lunch are served, and heavy appetizers will again be served at Friday evening’s reception.

Is there time allotted for sightseeing and visiting the parks during the Conference?

The conference will take place all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.); so no time is being allotted to visit the parks during the actual conference time frame.

However, the OAA hotel rate at the Wyndham is available both pre- and post-conference (spanning Feb. 3 – 15), so please feel free to take advantage of the great room rate and visit the parks then.

Is there a discount pass available for the parks?

No, but please see Lisa’s List for tips on visiting Disney including ways to save money and time. “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

Will there be shuttles available between the hotel and the Disney Parks?

Yes, there are shuttles available through the hotel and surrounding resort area.

Will shuttles be available to/from the airport?

No, the hotel does not provide shuttles to or from the airport. You will need to arrange that transportation as part of your travel plans or upon arrival.

Can my [friend/family member/spouse/significant other] attend the Leadership Conference with me?

Yes! We would love to have your guest join you. Whether your guest chooses to attend all events or not, each guest will need to be fully registered in order to attend any part of the conference or receptions. There are no guest passes for events this year.

Will I be able to earn CEs at the Dream into Action Conference?

This is an oft-asked question each year. We do understand the need to satisfy CEs; and each year we consider whether our annual conference should offer them. But so far, we've always come to the same conclusion—that the annual State Leadership Conference just isn't a CE-type event. We've specifically designed this conference so that opticians and opticianry leaders can focus fully on themselves, their own development, networking and relationship-building and creative problem-solving rather than concentrating on satisfying CE requirements. If you've attended the annual conference in the past, you already understand what we mean. If you haven't, we invite you to come and find out for yourself. We think you'll agree with this decision.

Will there be a virtual element to the Dream into Action Conference?

No. The 2022 OAA State Leadership Conference is completely live. We are excited to see you in person.

Where can I view a full schedule of events for the Dream into Action Conference?

This event is still a ways off. Each year, we open registration quite a while before a schedule is developed, in order to allow people plenty of planning time, and the most flexibility and best pricing for travel accommodations. Please know that we're busy planning engaging sessions for every portion of the event. We know the topics. We're excited about our line-up of speakers and facilitators, all of whom have already begun preparing their talk points. But the exact details—particularly regarding exact days and times for each event—will be a work in progress. As the event nears, we will begin sharing the schedule in increasingly more specific iterations. So be sure to check back often as the event draws nearer.

What COVID restrictions do I need to be aware of?

The OAA will follow the CDC and Disney guidelines for the conference. In an effort to provide a safe and healthy environment for all attendees at the 2022 OAA State Leadership Conference, the Opticians Association of America is requesting that proof of a negative COVID test (72 hours prior to event opening) or proof of full vaccination be provided at conference check-in in order to gain access to the conference. For those who do not present proof of vaccination or negative testing at check-in, rapid testing will be available onsite for approximately $50.

A negative result is required of each attendee in order to attend. At this time, “proof of vaccination” means both initial courses of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or the single-dose J&J vaccine. A booster is recommended but not required.

Event Safety Polices in compliance with CDC Guidelines, Walt Disney World Official Hotels and all other applicable regulations active at the time of the event will be observed.

What is your cancellation policy?

We hope your plans don’t change. But if they do, we will offer a 50% refund on conference registration for cancellations made by emailing [email protected] no later than midnight, January 16. We can offer no reimbursement for other travel accommodations such as airfare or lodging. Consult your airline or hotel for their cancellation policies and options concerning travel insurance.

Will there be evening receptions this year?

Yes, there will be receptions on both Thursday and Friday evening. Location TBA.

I am a student. Is there a scholarship available for the Leadership Conference?
